West Lancs residents fume after breaking hips and feet on 'hidden' kerb
Residents are up in arms over a 'hidden' kerb that has been causing havoc, with one pensioner left hospitalised for weeks after breaking their hip when they fell.
Donna told LancsLive: "I've never experienced pain like it. I literally couldn't get up the pain was so bad. "I walked on it for two weeks, because the thought of going to A&E and sitting there for hours just put me off and I kept thinking, I've never broken a bone in my life, it's just a sprain, it's just a sprain," Donna said. "However, it got to the last weekend of struggling with walking, lack of mobility and the pain, I bit the bullet and took myself off to the walk-in.
"Zone one, two and three - if it had broken in zone one or three, it would have been pretty straight forward and six week recovery. Because it's broken in zone two, which is in the middle of the bone, there is a reduced blood supply to that part of the bone, so healing is longer and can be complicated."
