Secretary of State Chris Heaton-Harris confirmed discussions on 50:50 PSNI policy with SDLP leader
The return of 50:50 recruitment to the PSNI has been discussed in Parliament following a recent data breach and the resignation of chief constable Simon Byrne.
Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Chris Heaton-Harris, also confirmed he had discussed the issue with Mr Eastwood previously. Speaking in the House of Commons on Monday, the Foyle MP said: "I think that Simon Byrne has made absolutely the right decision in resigning today, given everything that has happened in recent weeks.
He asked: "Does the Secretary of State agree that the best way of dealing with that crisis is to bring back 50:50 recruitment?"
