Revenue had a busy week; seizing counterfeit goods, alcohol, cigarettes, weapons, drugs and more in operations over the last number of days
Over the past week, Revenue officers seized contraband including counterfeit clothing, illegal drugs and weapons, with an estimated value of €765,000 in various operations. The detections in Dublin, the Midlands, Rosslare Europort and in the South-East were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence-led operations and saw officers seize 32.
4kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of almost €650,000, and various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €48,000, and 1,516 illicit tablets worth almost €2,400. Revenue also seized 600 cigarettes and almost 12kg of tobacco products with an estimated market value of over €11,000, and 166 counterfeit items, with an estimated value of over €53,600. The herbal cannabis and illicit drugs, some of which were discovered with the assistance of detector dogs Ciara, Sam, Grace, and Enzo, were discovered whilst Revenue officers were examining parcels at premises in Dublin and the Midlands. The various illicit drugs consisted of Cannabis Resin , Cannabis Oil , Butane Honey Oil , Edibles , Magic Mushrooms , 2 Ethylamino- 2-Phenyl Cylohexanone , 2MMC , 3 Chlorometh Cathinone , Cannabis oil , Cannabis resin , edibles , Gamma- Butyrolactone , Khat , Kratom Powder , LSD , Nep Crystals , Reefers , Synthacaine Containing 2-Mmc , and a vape containing THC .The parcels containing drugs originated from the Czech Republic, France, Poland, The Netherlands, The United Kingdom, Thailand, Spain and India, and were destined for addresses in Austria, Croatia, France, Romania and nationwide. The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. The counterfeit goods consisted of products branded Adidas, Ami, Canada Goose, Celine, Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Lacoste, Louis Vuitton, Moncler, New Balance, Nike, The North Face, On Cloud, Ralph Lauren, Stone Island, Ugg, Brooks, and New Balance. In addition to the above, almost 91 litres of alcohol, with a retail value of over €2,600 and representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of almost €1,250, were seized in Rosslare Europort and the Midlands. Nine weapons were also seized in the Midlands. The seized alcohol consisted of beer , spirits and wine . The cigarettes and tobacco seized were of various brands, and the weapons seized were pepper spray, shock baton and two telescope batons.These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.
