Data from electricity readings has identified 25,000 properties as vacant, with a further 65,000 due to be inspected for ‘low energy usage’
Revenue has used data from ESB electricity readings to identify 25,000 properties as part of the government’s crackdown on vacant homes.
A further 65,000 homes are now due to be inspected for “low energy use” by Revenue to ascertain if they will also face the vacant homes tax. The tax was introduced in last year’s budget and applied to residential properties in use as a dwelling for fewer than 30 days in a year.
