Review: Puccini Restaurant and Bar on Cop Lane in Penwortham holds a crafting evening on a Wednesday. The idea of combining craft with wine and Italian food made it far more appealing 🧵

In recent years, more pubs, cafes and restaurants have started offering opportunities to meet and socialise with other people beyond the more traditional quizzes, football, darts and pool.Book clubs are a favourite, and have now been joined by regular events such as Knit and Natter at BonBons Coffee Bar in Penwortham, and Paint and Sip at Revolution on Fishergate in Preston City Centre.

Fortunately, I found another option, as Puccini Restaurant and Bar on Cop Lane in Penwortham holds a crafting evening on a Wednesday, and the idea of combining craft with wine and Italian food made it far more appealing. I was the first to arrive, and was greeted warmly and directed to some tables at the far end of the restaurant with assurances that the others “would be along soon”.

I’d just unpacked my felting box when the other crafters arrived and immediately invited me to sit with them. They brought out their individual projects; Margaret was making a Fair Isle jumper that I’d have killed for, Lisa was knitting a sock, her young son was doing some top notch colouring in, and Suzanne was crocheting a baby blanket.Meanwhile Shona was crocheting a crystal bracelet.
