Jeff Tweedy has played countless venues all over the world, but he’s never played inside a wedding cake.

At least that’s what Dublin’s Olympia Theatre looks like from the Wilco frontman’s perspective, as he drily announces upon taking the stage; to the sold out crowd, it feels more like the inside of an oven due to the unseasonal humid weather raising temperatures inside and outside the theatre. Truth be told, Wilco ought to be playing a much bigger venue than the hallowed halls of the Olympia.

No matter. Tonight’s Dublin gig feels like a special occasion for everyone here, particularly since it’s their first show in the city since 2016.
