A big weekend for the environment in the Ribble Valley
Food, farming, land use, house building, home energy and insulation are among the topics at a Ribble Valley summit on climate and environmental issues this weekend.
Recently-elected Labour Coun Aaron Wilkins-Odudu said: “We hope to explore closer links between Ribble Valley Council and this project in future. But there hasn’t been enough time since the May local election to build formal cooperation for this weekend’s event. Another councillor, Gayle McCrum, has informed all councillors about the summit. I believe a few councillor will attend.
“We’ll be looking forward to decide what we can do next – harnessing people power – for a fair and sustainable future in the Ribble Valley and beyond.” Membership of working groups have been amended to reflect Ribble Valley Council’s new political landscape. Conservatives remain the biggest group and in control. However, new Labour, Independent and Green councillors have been elected. Conservatives say working groups are a collaborative, positive move to include a wider range of councillors and political groups.
