Police have stated no one has been rescued, contradicting the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service
Police have said no one has been rescued following reports a person had fallen into the River Aire near Leeds Dock, yesterday afternoon, following a fire service statement saying a person had been saved.
Specialist teams are continuing to search the river near Crown Point Bridge today , following reports someone fell in yesterday at about 5.30pm. West Yorkshire Police are also monitoring CCTV around the time to get to the bottom of what happened. This comes after a contradictory report from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service which claimed a person had been rescued from the water near Neptune Street, about 300 metres downstream from the bridge.A force spokesperson said: "Further enquiries are being made today following a report received yesterday afternoon that a person had entered the River Aire near to Crown Point Bridge in Leeds.
"No persons are believed to have been rescued from the river since this report was received at about 5.30pm and officers are conducting CCTV enquiries in the area today to establish the full circumstances of what has occurred. Specialist teams are also assisting with a river search." This comes after a woman fell into the River Aire at 1.36am and died in hospital hours later. WYFRS has been asked for a comment.
