If you can think it, it's probably happened at least once across these first six seasons — or, at the very least, it's probably been suggested by what's long been TV's wildest writers' room. And truly, it seems like all bets were off this year.
Later on, another trailer suggested Archie might have a thing for boys when he was seen kissing a gay character named Joaquin. But again, this wasn't really a queer kiss at all. It was just a ploy designed to get people talking without actually giving queer characters the storylines they deserved. Overall though, there's clearly been a concerted effort to make up for past mistakes when it comes to queerness .Cheryl's always had a strong presence on the show, but the bratty cheerleader caricature — which we did admittedly stan — has finally given way to something more nuanced, especially in regard to her feelings for Toni.
