A faulty cable has caused big problems around the railway station
Motorists in Long Eaton faced long delays as a result of work to replace a faulty power cable. One bus service, used by people to get to East Midlands Airport , was delayed by 85 minutes by five-way traffic lights at the Long Eaton Railway Station on Tamworth Road.
The roadworks have been ongoing since Monday morning . The temporary traffic lights should be gone by lunchtime on Tuesday, April 16. A National Grid spokesman said: "Repairs to the faulty cable joint close to the railway bridge have been finished and reinstatement work and the removal of temporary traffic lights should be completed by lunchtime. We apologise to customers for the inconvenience this fault and resulting work caused, and thank users of Tamworth Road for their patience while repairs have been carried out.
"We apologise to our customers and thank them for their patience and understanding that the causes are beyond our control." The indigo and my15 services are also affected.
