If you’re seeking a rootin’ tootin’ good time that’s really outta this world, look no further than the Cosmic Country Cookout at Judson & Moore (3057 N. Rockwell, Building 5).
was created in the year 1919 to provide a performance venue for classically trained Black musicians who had been denied access to major concert halls and opera houses in other jurisdictions.
And 103 years later, the association is still active in the world of music education and appreciation, by awarding financial scholarships to young musicians and hosting free concerts featuring the work of Black composers. Today, you can assist in the cause by attending, the Association’s annual fundraiser, which starts at 4 PM at the historic South Shore Cultural Center .
