Rory McIlroy hopes to quickly move on from his dismal performance at The Open Championship, jetting out of Prestwick on Saturday morning to head for sunnier climbs

Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods' private jets wasted no time in flying out of Prestwick on Saturday morning after dismal performances at The Open Championship , heading to vastly different destinations.

The Gulfstream 5 jet registered to the 35-year-old took off at around 10am, according to Radar Atlas, and was headed for Faro in Portugal. It comes after McIlroy told The Telegraph last week that he wanted to enjoy life more.READ MORE: Shane Lowry reaction to rowdy Open crowd sums him up after racing into early contention

McIlroy started his second round outside the cut line on Friday and needed early birdies to have any hope of playing the weekend. Instead, he went six-over-par over his opening six holes, including a disastrous eight at the par-five fourth. At that moment, McIlroy knew his tournament was effectively over."I think once I made the 8 on the 4th hole, that was it. 22 holes into the event and I'm thinking about where I'm going to go on vacation next week," McIlroy said.
