Rory McIlroy faces ongoing challenges in his quest to win the Masters tournament, as questions about his failure to secure a victory continue to arise.

Once McIlroy introduced the concept of “head space” there were bound to be follow-up questions on that theme. “The best way for me to feel like I’m in a good head space is to be as prepared as I possibly can be, and I feel really prepared,” said McIlroy. “I think I’m pretty much there.” For example, every winner since 2005 has been inside the top 10 after the first round – with the sole exception of Tiger Woods, who has come from further back a couple of times, and is excused from many trends. McIlroy is acutely aware of this statistic.
