Wilson is reportedly set to sign a new contract at Villa Park as they protect their investment in the Scotland U21 star.
Rory Wilson is set to be rewarded for his incredible scoring exploits with a lucrative new contract at Aston Villa.
Wilson joined the Villa academy from Rangers in summer 2022 and has rapidly risen through the ranks. He's viewed as a top prospect and a first-team player in the making and this season he has 16 goals in just 13 games in the under-18 Premier League. Striker Wilson only turned 18 in January but has already played for Scotland U21s and it's been reported the vultures are circling to steal him away from Villa Park. But they are determined to keep hold of him and it's claimed that, with his existing deal about to enter its final year, they have tabled a new five-year deal to tie him down until 2029. Fabrizio Romano reports the offer is on the table with Wilson set for a big decision over his future in the weeks ahead.
It's claimed Villa will be due just €270,000 in training compensation he leaves under freedom of contract, but the hope is he will break into the first team in the coming seasons and any departure would be for a far more significant transfer fee. And that is music to Rangers' ears. Wilson spent eight years at Ibrox and FIFA rules mean they are due a percentage of any fee Villa bank for him before he turns 23 in 2029 - whether that's training compensation or a transfer fee should a bigger club come calling. That's because they played a significant role in his training between his 12th and 21st birthdays.
