Rosanna Davison opens up on emotional moment baby Sophia smiled at her for the first time

Rosanna Davison has told how her heart melted as baby Sophia smiled at her for the first time and admitted her career will take a backseat while motherhood is her priority. The 35-year-old told the Irish Mirror: “I’m spending most of my time at home with Sophia or going for walks in the park and we absolutely love it.

“It’s such a special time watching her grow and change so much from the tiny sleepy newborn we first met in November.“She’s changing by the day and at seven weeks old is now well over 11lbs. She’s getting so strong and heavy.” The former Miss World and best-selling author said spending quality time with her daughter is her main focus. Rosanna added: “I’m still going to be working, but it will be a case of being more sensible about what I can manage. “I have a work trip to Germany planned for early February but I won’t be taking on as many jobs abroad or around Ireland as I did before. The nutritionist and top model, who’s been a vegan since 2011, said she will not enforce such a diet on her tiny tot. She added: “I’m going to focus on feeding her a balanced diet when it’s time to wean her, but her“I’d love for her to sample a wide variety of different foods, flavours and textures and I do plan to give her oily fish for the essential omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA to support brain development.” Rosanna is also urging us to eat ourselves beautiful as veganuary grips the nation but encourages baby steps. She said: “I would always encourage anyone thinking of adopting a plant-based diet to do their research and plan a diet based on whole foods rather than processed convenience foods, to ensure your body is getting the nutrients it needs. “It is essential to supplement vitamin B12 as a vegan, but I find that adding leafy greens to my meals and smoothies provides sufficient iron. “Plan out meals and snacks in advance to keep your fridge and cupboards well stocked and don’t be afraid to try out new, more unusual foods like tofu or tempeh as a substitute for meat. “I love using herbs and spices to spruce up meals without the need for adding extra oil, salt or sugar. “I’ve included a lot more info about plant-based nutrition plus plenty of easy recipes in my books Eat Yourself Beautiful and Eat Yourself Fit and on my website www.rosannadavisonnutrition.com.”Our Irish Mirror Sports page - which brings you all your Irish and UK sports news - can be found here. The Irish Mirror Twitter account is @IrishMirror while our sports account is @MirrorSportIE.
