Roy Keane looks to have taken a different stance on Erik ten Hag - praising his positive outlook just weeks after hammering the Manchester United manager for doing the same thing
Roy Keane admits he "admires" Erik ten Hag's positivity - despite hammering him for being upbeat just weeks ago.
Despite that he was positive about the progress made, especially with the young players. Kobbie Mainoo, who scored United's opening goal, has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign whilst Alejandro Garnacho has also continued his development. He said on Sky Sports : "You do admire him, he seems really upbeat, saying it is a big win. But you're not gauged at Man Utd by beating Newcastle at home. It is about competing in the big games, you're not going to win championships every year but you hope that you're up there competing - and Man Utd have been nowhere near.
Those comments come just over a month after Keane hammered Ten Hag for putting a positive spin on a draw with Liverpool. The Red Devils claimed a point against their arch rivals at Old Trafford, leading until a late Mohamed Salah penalty levelled things.
