Royal Mail confirms strike action in July over job and pay cuts with deliveries impacted 🔴 The union said members have no choice but to strike after failing to persuade Royal Mail against taking “ruinous” action to cut 700 jobs and slash up to £7,000 pay
Royal Mail managers represented by the Unite union voted this week to strike in response to a plan that they say will cut more than 500 delivery manager jobs Royal Mail managers have voted to strike later this month over a plan to cut jobs and pay, it was announced today.
The Unite union said 2,400 managers will work to rule on 15 to 19 July then stage a walk out from 20 to 22 July. Deliveries will not be covered during the entire period. The union said its members have no choice but to strike after failing to persuade Royal Mail against taking “ruinous” action to cut 700 jobs and slash up to £7,000 pay.She added: “There is not a single aspect of these cuts which is about improving customer service. They are being driven entirely by a culture of greed and profiteering which has seized a 500-year-old essential service, driving it close to ruin.
“Our members are determined to force the business to take a different path, and they have the full backing of Unite.”
