Munster legend Peter walked off the pitch in the Aviva Stadium for the final time today as he will be retiring at the end of the season - but cameras missed the emotional moment
The head of RTE Sport has responded after the station was criticised for not showing Peter O'Mahony's final farewell after today's Six Nations clash.
It was Peter O'Mahony's final match with Ireland, as he revealed last month that he would be hanging up his boots at the end of the season. Fans were outraged as TV coverage didn't show his final farewell as he walked off the pitch at Aviva Stadium this afternoon. "Oh look, there he is. One of Ireland's greatest players leaving the pitch in the Aviva for the last time but we were all watching Angus Gardner," one viewer complained on X."Absolutely terrible to not show him leaving the pitch RTE!!!! What a superb Irish player, always left everything out there. He deserved better," another said.
While some viewers directed their unhappiness at RTE for not showing the moment, Head of Sport Declan McBennett explained that they aren't responsible for matchday camera direction.
