Ministers will make a decision on the future funding of RTÉ at Wednesday's Cabinet meeting

RTÉ’s cash balance fell by over €35m by the end of last year, chairman Terence O’Rourke has confirmed.

As part of the cost-saving initiatives announced last August, strategic and digital projects were cancelled to make savings, the chairman explained. This led RTÉ to save €2.2m. However, RTÉ has been engaging with the Data Protection Commission in relation to its Register of External Activities.Proposals on reforming RTÉ’s funding will be discussed at Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting.
