RTÉ unveiled their autumn schedule on Monday afternoon but fan-favorite KIN was notably missing from the line-up
RTE said they are ‘still working’ on getting their hit drama Kin back on screens after the production company behind it filed for bankruptcy.
Asked if or when fans can expect its return in the future, an RTE spokesperson told Irish Daily Mirror: “We’re still working on it - we’re hopeful for season 3 to come to RTE.”“RTÉ would very much like KIN to return and continues to work with our international partners to make it happen.”Season three of the RTE One show was filmed in Ireland last summer, and a fourth season has already been commissioned with filming reportedly due to take place in September.
The Canadian studio, which also worked on major films like Joker, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Licorice Pizza, cited both the COVID pandemic and the dual union strikes as insurmountable factors for the company, according to the Irish Film and Television Network. "The last few years have been incredibly difficult for BRON, and things have only gotten more complicated over these past months."
