Fans were shocked with the news of his departure from 2FM this week
One of Ireland's best loved DJ's, he had been the last original 2FM DJ left at the station, with his weekend slot, 'The Dave Fanning show', where he used his platform to promote new Irish music.
What's Next For Dave? The presenter confirmed he is set to launch a new RTE Radio podcast, and will also be presenting on RTE Gold. Career Born on the 27th of February 1956, Dave started on RTE’s 2FM way back when it was radio 2 and quickly became the go-to person for new Irish music. Up until this week, he was the last original 2FM DJ left standing.
"Now, 10 years later, only about 25 percent of what you do is for the TV programme. The rest is for social media, the bits you see on YouTube and the publicity around it. "I would like to be on RTÉ Radio 1 or I wouldn’t mind making a statement to say I want to be on 9-12 on 2FM. There are a lot of things I would like, but you don’t always get."
"No, they go to gigs all the time, the two boys in particular. My daughter is more obsessed with music than I was", he explained.
