Kane has been a journalist for over 25 years and has previously worked as a south-east correspondent with the Irish Independent and Irish Examiner. “It’s where I’m from and where I have worked for much of my career in journalism. I am looking forward to working with the brilliant team in RTÉ Waterford and my new colleagues in the RTÉ newsroom,” the journalist said.After leaving, Tiernan criticised RTÉ for what he said was a reduction in local coverage.
