RTE pundit Didi Hamann slammed Cristiano Ronaldo after he broke down in tears during their Euro 2024 last-16 clash against Slovenia on Monday night.
Portugal would go on to win on penalties with Ronaldo scoring the opening spot kick but his reaction was enough to earn criticism from the RTE panel."I thought the reaction was embarrassing and out of order, I've never seen anything like it," Hamann said live on air. "Credit to him he took the first penalty and he took it well. I bought into Ronaldo turning into a team player and it was absolute nonsense. All he thinks about is himself. It's all about him.
"I just found it utterly embarrassing what he did because it's a team game and you're still in the game... He could have cried after the game but not during the game.Lisa Fallon, who was also on punditry, believes it was a moment Ronaldo realised he may no longer be world-class.
