Public may be disappointed because the long-awaited list won't have any names because of data protection
RTE management has completed a register of interests for all their top stars in the wake of the fallout from the secret payments scandal earlier this summer.However, it is understood that a number of live challenges on GDPR grounds mean that it will only be published in redacted form with no names listed to go with the gigs.
“The proposals are now subject to a data protection assessment by the RTÉ's DPO in accordance with GDPR legislation and this will involve consultation with the Data Protection Commissioner’s office. Meanwhile, a Fine Gael TD on the Oireachtas Media Committee, Alan Dillon, has said the latest revelations detailed in an internal review reported over the weekend are “stunning.” He said: “RTÉ have basically admitted they didn’t hand over the internal review which formed the basis of half their case against Ryan Tubridy.
“This dealt with half the period of Mr Tubridy’s pay where RTÉ falsely understated his earnings and since then, nobody in the RTÉ executive board thought this material should be published or provided despite being asked for it?
