The sports broadcaster and commentator now looks after his health, both mental and physical, after taking key steps to mind himself following the death of his dad in 2013
Darragh Maloney says talking to a counsellor was a huge help in dealing with the loss of his father after he initially tried to bury his grief.
"Counselling helped me hugely at that time because for a while I tried to ignore it. I wanted to bury the grief but after several months it came back at me bad, and I was in bits," he said. Another step Darragh took to protect his peace was quitting Twitter, now known as X, in 2018. He says it was the best decision he ever made.
"I was doing the commentary. During the first half, my phone buzzed so at half-time I stupidly looked at it.
