HMS Invincible's lost rudder is FOUND: 36ft-long blade of warship that sank in the Solent in 1758 is discovered

Rudder of warship HMS Invincible has been discovered 200ft away from the main shipwreck. The 36ft-long blade was discovered lying on the bed of the Solent during a routine inspection last week.

Invincible was built by the French in 1744, but was captured by the British during the Battle of Cape Finisterre. The 74-gun ship sunk in 1758 after the rudder jammed into a sandbank, before capsizing. Since the wreck was discovered in 1979, more than 2,000 artefacts have been excavated
