Short haircuts have headlined the past couple of years; bobs, lobs, crops, pixie cuts; but longer lengths are stealing back the spotlight and ruffle waves are a major player that we love to see.

Hair stylist Tom Smith highlighted the re-emergence of longer length waves over fashion week, dubbing them “Botticelli waves”, or “long, unstructured, fluffy, textured waves or curls.”“Named after the renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli these waves were seen on many of the subjects of his work. Long, loose and unstructured with fluffy edges and a stretched out shape,” says Tom.

If not, or your hair needs a little extra natural encouragement, “these can be achieved by braiding your hair 2-4 times in a middle or side parting and leaving overnight or heating with a hairdryer until the wave is set,” says Tom. “Styling powders and texurising sprays are your best friend for the aerated fluffy finish,” adds Tom who recommends
