The couple tied the knot in 2023 in the Algarve after a smaller ceremony at home in Ireland, and welcomedConor was still playing rugby at the time of Alfie's birth, but left to be at the hospital when he was born. He then had to return to camp training in Portugal just days after.

"I went to hospital on the Monday, we had him on the Tuesday, and then we got out of hospital on the Friday, so Conor went the Sunday. We had a weekend at home in a bubble, and then it was popped. But we knew this. I knew going into this that would be the case," Joanna, a former Miss Universe Ireland winner, said.

"Obviously, Conor would have loved to have been there. I would have loved to have had him there, but it was also a really lovely time. It's only now in hindsight I'm like 'Thank God I don't have to do it again,' if we have another baby.

"The family are currently based in Dublin but plans to move to Derry in September, where they are building their forever home. A bonus is that they will be near Joanna's family, something that has become very important since her mother, Terri, was diagnosed with aggressive early-onset dementia in 2021 at the age of 62. Shortly after Terri had recovered from a battle with breast cancer, she became forgetful, and her personality 'wasn't quite right. '
