The presenter opened up about the fallout to podcaster Dermot Whelan, as he prepared to mark a year living in London. He moved there in January to work for Virgin Radio after his RTE radio show was pulled from the airwaves.
Former RTE star Ryan Tubridy revealed how he is “a different person” and “a new man” since the payments scandal. Tubs, 51, believes the controversy last year forced him out of his comfort zone, saying: “I needed a shove and I got one.”

I was completely liberated. My face changed, my DNA changed. What I wanted to do at the time was to turn down the volume of being recognised.
Ryan said: “I felt very sorry for myself at the time, for a long time. Maybe I had a little bit too much of it. I had to get on with it. My karaoke song is That’s Life by Frank Sinatra.
