The new Ryanair policy will see travellers turning up to the airport later than the advised window hit by a €100 penalty for each passenger as well as an additional fine for missed flights
Ryanair passengers are being warned that will now face a major fine if they break a new 40 minute rule when travelling with the airline.
It is usually recommended to arrive at least two hours before short-haul flights and three hours before long-haul journeys to leave enough time to get through security, especially during peak travel times. The on the spot fine will be given to each passenger who reaches their check-in desk less than 40 minutes before their flight's scheduled departure. The same fine will be given to those who try to book onto the next flight after missing their original one.
To keep from incurring these additional costs, Ryanair advises passengers to complete their check-in online and to arrive at the airport with sufficient time to spare.
