Ryanair has accused Transport Minister Eamon Ryan of inaction, claiming that a passenger cap at Dublin Airport could jeopardize popular Christmas flights to Lapland and impact Leinster Rugby team travel plans. The airline says it has reached an agreement with the rugby team to switch their away match flights from Dublin to Belfast.
Ryanair has warned families that popular Christmas flights to Lapland may be at risk this year due to a passenger cap which will impact the number of flights allowed in and out of Dublin Airport .
Ryanair has said that Eamon Ryan has legal power under the Aviation Act 2001 to direct the IAA to allow these extra slots, but he has not acted. Due to this, the Leinster Rugby Team will now be forced to divert to Belfast to catch flights for their away matches in Bristol, Cardiff and La Rochelle. “It is unacceptable that Ireland’s Transport Minister won’t exercise his legal power to approve these extra flights. If he won’t act , we then call on Green Tourism Minister Catherine Martin to take action.
