The 2023 Ryder Cup begins this week as Team Europe and Team USA go head-to-head for the prestigious trophy.
Rory McIlroy, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tyrrell Hatton, Viktor Hovland, Robert MacIntyre, and Jon Rahm all qualified automatically for Team Europe. The six captain’s picks include Ludvig Aberg, Tommy Fleetwood, Nicolai Hojgaard, Shane Lowry, Justin Rose, and Sepp Straka. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday The start of the week will see Team Europe and Team USA have practice days at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club to get ready for the tournament. Players from both teams will take part in practice rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday to familiarise themselves with the course in Italy.
The first session will see four four-ball matches. Captains Donald and Johnson will announce their pairings for the opening session during Thursday’s opening ceremony. After the four-balls are completed, the second session will feature the foursomes. Unlike the four-balls, this will see each team of two golfers share the same ball and take turns on the hole.
