A Sacramento man was arrested and charged with murdering the father of his wife’s kids last November, in Oakland.
OAKLAND — A Sacramento man has been arrested in connection with a November homicide, which police say was motivated by a family feud, court records show.
Donte Neal, 31, was charged with murdering the father of his wife’s children — 31-year-old Byron Robinson — as well as shooting into Robinson’s car. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail on Monday, where he remained on a no-bail hold.about 5:30 p.m. Nov. 6, on the 7400 block of Weld Street. Police allege Neal pulled up alongside Robinson’s car, fired five shots, and drove off, spending the night in Rodeo before making his way back to Sacramento.
Neal was identified as a suspect based on surveillance footage and information from Robinson’s relatives about a feud between the two men, police said in court records. When questioned by police, Neal insisted he was in Sacramento on the day of the homicide and invoked his right to an attorney shortly thereafter, authorities said.
At the time of the homicide, Neal was on parole for a 2019 assault with a semiautomatic firearm conviction in Alameda County, court records show. His parole ended Jan. 4, a month before his arrest in this case.Neal didn’t enter a plea at his first scheduled court hearing Wednesday, according to court records.
