An expert has issued an urgent warning to those who keep their milk in the door of their fridge

Shoppers at Tesco , Sainsbury's, Asda and Morrisons have been given fresh advice on where to store their milk in the fridge - and it's not going down well. .

A specialist from Plumbworld cautioned shoppers at Tesco and the other Big Four supermarkets, including Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury's, stating: "This area is warmer than the rest of the fridge, which could be the reason your milk isn't lasting very long." "Try storing it in the main part of the fridge instead. You should be able to move the shelves around to accommodate it." Tessa Clarke, from food-sharing app OLIO, advised that dairy products should never be kept in the fridge door as this can cause the milk to spoil faster, leading to waste and unnecessary expense.Instead, customers are encouraged to store any dairy items at the back of the fridge where it's coldest, ensuring the longest possible shelf life for your milk.

"Oooh, look, I'm stating the frigging obvious, I must be an expert, lol." Another remarked: "We've always kept our bottle of milk in the door and never had one go off. Simply, don't buy more than you need for the week, or restock on your way home from work or when you go out." "I am telling the so called expert to go back to nursery to learn something," a third commented. "Back of fridge coldest but my milk freezes there, things in door get hit by warm air every time door opened, I live alone and buy 4 pints of milk once a week, keep it in fridge door and never had any go off," another added.
