Sam Curtis made his St Johnstone debut today after joining the Scottish side on loan from Sheffield United . Curtis, the youngster who rose to prominence in the League of Ireland with St Patrick’s Athletic, has joined the Saints for the remainder of the season. The deal was finalized on Friday and the 19-year-old was given a starting role in St Johnstone ’s 1-0 Scottish Cup fourth round victory over Motherwell today.

This marks Curtis’ second loan spell away from the Blades this season, having made 19 appearances for Peterborough United between August and early January. The Ireland U21 defender expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m delighted to be here and I’m so excited to get to work. After speaking with the manager, seeing the great stadium and meeting with the lads, I’m just excited to get out there on the pitch now. “It’s an exciting challenge for me and the team. We want to get ourselves back into a good position in the league. I’m hoping to come in and play a big part in that.” Curtis elaborated: “The manager made me feel very comfortable. He has told me to come in and just be myself. I’ll just do what I do, that’s why I’m at the club. I have to adapt to the team but I won’t change as a person.” Curtis joined Sheffield United from St Pat’s last January, on a deal until 2027, and made his Premier League debut against Everton in May.
