Sam Lisone has reassured Leeds Rhinos supporters he isn't rushing back to the NRL anytime soon after responding to rumours linking him with a move to New Zealand Warriors.
Speculation started circulating social media on Sunday evening in the wake of Leeds' embarrassing 50-0 defeat at the hands of Wigan Warriors. Lisone, who has been a solid addition to Rohan Smith's roster in 2023, wanted to make it clear any 'reports' putting him back down under couldn't be further from the truth.
A Tweet that since been deleted by a Leeds fan upset at the fact they could be losing the prop forward was met by a response from Lisone, saying: "False mate I'm a f**** Rhinos until 2025"The links started due to Lisone's partner, Georgia Hale, currently playing in the NRLW for Gold Coast Titans after a brief stint with the Rhinos. When she left Leeds in May, the New Zealand Ferns skipper did clarify Lisone's future lies at Headingley.
"My partner Sam Lisone is here and sees his future at the club, and I am so in support of that. I really want to return and keep building my personal relationship with the club, but it's just a personal endeavour that I really do want to chase in Australia." Lisone signed a new contract with the club several months back and produced his best performance in blue and amber earlier this month, scoring a hat-trick in their victory over Hull FC. After a slow start, Lisone has emerged as a fan favourite during his first season at the club.
