After his close friend Pauric O turned Traitor and orchestrated his murder, Sam from 'The Traitors' expresses shock and emotional turmoil. Despite the betrayal, he acknowledges the game's nature and the deep bond he forged with Pete, who grieved his loss.
The Traitors' Sam met his end on Sunday night, after his close friend Pauric O was recruited as a Traitor. After it was revealed that Carla and Páraic were Traitors, Sam confessed that he felt massively betrayed.
'The lads group, or whatever they call it, we said we'd never backstab each other,' he tells VIP Magazine. 'If one of us was recruited, we'd find a way to get the other in. So when I read the sheet, to find out Pauric O done me dirty, I was absolutely shocked, I wasn't right for two weeks. I don't think I spoke to the man for three months after.
' He goes on to say: 'It's only a game at the end of the day. When you're coming out of there your emotions are high, and you're attached to the game. You're like, 'Oh, I can't believe he done that.
' But it's just a game at the end of the day, and he had to do what he had to do, to protect himself, to go further in that game. It was a good move.
' Of course, Pauric O wasn't the only person Sam was close to in the Castle. Pete was moved to tears when Sam was murdered.
'He was very upset when I was gone. Obviously I didn't realise how upset he was and when I watched the episode back last night, seeing him cry, I was like, 'Oh God!
' He's a gentle soul. I think that's just his personality. He was really upset I was gone, and he did say to me that did take a toll on him. I was the closest thing he had to his son at home, who is also called Sam. He's in good spirits now and we speak every day.
