A job opportunity for John took the Staffords to the Atlanta area for 2 1/2 years and a promotion within that company relocated them to the Dallas area in 1990. Specifically, Purdue Street in University Park. Turns out, Detroit native Calandro played high school soccer, went to soccer coaching school and became a fixture in the North Texas soccer community. But he’s the first to admit a big reason the Bombers went undefeated from kindergarten through fourth grade was because of “The Wall” Kershaw and “Hollywood” Stafford.“Matthew had a flair for dramatics,” Calandro said.
Joe Meredith’s son, Josh, played on the Bombers soccer team and went on to start on Highland Park’s varsity baseball and football teams and was best man in Kershaw’s wedding.
