How much rain fell this morning?
JERRY LARA, Staff / San Antonio Express-Newsto continue until Tuesday afternoon, it’s likely that the San Antonio area is on track to see more rain in a single day than it has seen in the entire month of January.
Since Jan. 1, San Antonio International Airport has recorded just .23 inches of rain and is almost 2 inches behind its normal rainfall amount this month. The National Weather Service expects San Antonio to see between 3/4 and 1 inch of rain on Tuesday. As of 8 a.m., Bexar County had only seen about a 10th of an inch, said Emily Heller, a meteorologist with the NWS. Areas that experienced thunderstorms and heavy rainfall also recorded up to a quarter of an inch.
“There are going to be more storms this morning,” Heller said. “There’s a good chance we will see more rain in Bexar County through the next few hours before the system starts to clear the area and move eastward of San Antonio.”
