Beth Mead and Fran Kirby have returned to club action after missing the Womens World Cup; Sarina Wiegman left both players out of her England squad for the Nations League games this month; Wiegman also addressed Luis Rubiales, the Lionesses FA bonus row and her calendar concerns
Rubiales announced on Sunday that he was resigning from his post, from which he had already been provisionally suspended by FIFA. Meanwhile, he has also been ordered to testify to a Spanish judge after Spanish state prosecutors formally accused Rubiales of alleged sexual assault and an act of coercion last week.
"Of course, we have all seen and followed the news that it is still going on and I would have to leave that now to the people working on that. England manager Sarina Wiegman says she is positive there will a good outcome with regards to the ongoing dispute over the Lionesses' pay and bonuses but has raised concerns over the fixture calendar.
"I am very worried. I was worried before the World Cup. We knew this was a very short turnaround. It's a bigger thing. "Next week they come in and some players only had six days off, which after such a high-level, and high-pressure competition, it's not good for them. England Women are keen to sit down with the FA hierarchy to discuss their ongoing dispute over pay and bonuses before the squad meets up for the Nations League matches in a week's time.
