WandaVision concept art shows a very different crown for Wanda's final form as Scarlet Witch.
Newly released concept art for WandaVision reveals a unique, alternative design for the Scarlet Witch's crown. Debuting on Disney+ in 2021 as part of Marvel's expansion into streaming, WandaVision saw Wanda Maximoff create her own alternate reality in which Vision was never killed in an attempt to cope with the trauma of losing him. The series also welcomed Kathryn Hahn to the MCU as Agatha Harkness, as well as Teyonah Paris, who plays an older Monica Rambeau.
What began as a sweet 60s sitcom soon became the true origin story of Wanda's transformation into the Scarlet Witch. The strength of Wanda's abilities had been teased at various times throughout the MCU, but WandaVision saw her discover her full potential and begin to harness the chaos magic that dwells inside her.
The non-solid crown made from Wanda's chaos magic ended up being seen briefly within WandaVision, however, Wanda's full transformation saw it turn into the uniquely shaped solid crown that is synonymous with her character. Olsen is set to return as the Scarlet Witch in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that will see Doctor Strange attempt a multiversal clean up following the events of last year's Spider-Man: No Way Home.
It's always interesting to see the various stages that character designs go through and how much they ultimately differ from what is then created for the final look. The idea of Wanda's crown being made entirely of her magic would certainly have looked impressive on-screen, however a solid, wearable crown is likely the more practical option and still makes for an incredible reveal once Wanda's transformation is complete in WandaVision's final episode.
