The principal of the little girl's primary school said the community was 'deeply saddened' by the shocking tragedy, which occurred shortly before midnight
The school attended by an eight-year-old girl who was stabbed to death in Wexford on Sunday night says it is helping pupils to deal with the shocking tragedy, and is “deeply saddened” by the incident.
Therese White, principal of New Ross Educate Together National School, issued a statement on Monday after learning about the death of the girl. “Our teachers are helping students to deal with this tragic event. We will be sharing information with parents today around how they can support their children at this difficult time,” added Ms White.
“We all woke up to this terrible news this morning and we could not believe it. The area where it happened is very tight knit. The whole community is absolutely shocked.” “New Ross is a tight-knit community. Everybody knows everyone else. I had lots of people on to me this morning asking me if I knew what happened, but there are not many details out yet and everybody is really shocked,” he said. This sort of thing just does not happen in a town like New Ross.”
