A schoolboy whose handmade woodwork became a viral sensation has raised almost £255,000 for Ukrainian children by raffling off just one wooden bowl.

He had been accepting commissions for handmade wooden carvings, but worked out that so many people had asked that it will take him over 30 years to fulfill the orders. Since then, over 14,000 people have donated, even after the winner of the bowl was announced on Easter Sunday.
