Canberra parents keep their children home from school to help stop the spread of COVID-19 as the capital wakes to its first full day of a seven-day lockdown.
Anyone who entered NSW from the ACT on or after 12:01am on Thursday August 5 must follow the stay-at-home rules for 14 days since they were last in the territory.
ACT Education Minister Yvette Berry said yesterday that "normal schooling" would not happen "this week" but children who were not able to be cared for at home would be supervised at their regular school. "Public schools will also be checking in over the next week with vulnerable families to ensure they have everything they need to have access to this online learning library.
Catholic Education Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn director Ross Fox said schools needed the pupil free days to "make sure all the IT works" before kicking off the online learning curriculum.All staff and teachers at every school must wear a mask, and that rule also applies to any students aged 13 years or older.
