Michael Schumacher's wife, Corinna, and their family have protected information about his health following his catastrophic skiing accident in 2013 - which saw the sporting star suffer a serious brain injury
The health of Formula One legend Michael Schumacher has been shrouded in mystery ever since his life-changing skiing accident.
Corinna has filed an application for the case to be heard in private, meaning the public can be excluded from the hearing if her husband's health is discussed, German newspaper Bild reports. Fritsche allegedly told Tozturkan over a coffee he was 'in possession of this material and he asked if we could do anything with it,' according to MailOnline.
Neurosurgeon Jussi Posti previously called out the claims as highly unlikely due to the condition Schumacher is said to be in. The rumoured condition of the sportsman would pose great difficulty for his attendance, Posti notes, though Schumacher has previously been flown from the family's home to their Majorcan villa.
By September 2014, Michael had been brought back to his family home on Lake Geneva in September 2014, where he was cared for around the clock by Corinna and a team of medics. Having dedicated herself to guarding her husband's dignity, Corinna has permitted only a select few trusted friends and relatives to visit him, under strict protocols. Meanwhile, it's understood only a handful of people know the details of Michael's condition and care.
In the 2021 Netflix documentary SCHUMACHER, Corinna emphasised the importance of protecting her husband's privacy, stating: "We're trying to carry on as a family, the way Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives. It's very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible. Michael always protected us, and now we are protecting Michael.
