Jack has been overtaken as the top boy's name for the first time in 14 years.
The most popular baby names in Scotland have been revealed with big changes in the boy category for the first time in over a decade.
While Jack has been the most popular choice for some time, Noah has now taken over the top spot with 373 baby boys given the name in 2022.The name has leaped from 8th place to 1st in the last four years. In the Glasgow City area, Grace is the most popular name for a girl while Muhammad is most often chosen for a boy. In East Renfrewshire, it's Sophie for a girl and Rory for a boy.
The number of different names given to boys reached an all-time high in 2022, as did the number of unique names for boys.NRS Statistician Daniel Burns said: “NRS is happy to welcome all the new babies of 2022.“There are now so many more names in use, as parents aim for something more unusual, that it takes far fewer babies to share a name for it to be high up in the charts.
