Scotland Yard take over search for missing mother and newborn child after car abandoned near Bolton

Scotland Yard has taken over the search for a missing couple and their child which began in Bolton eleven days ago. The car the family had been travelling in was found abandoned and burning on the M61 near junction 4 at Farnworth.

They are thought to have stayed at a hotel in Colchester using false names. Essex Police established that on the morning of Saturday January 7th the trio took a taxi from Harwich to East Ham Station, in Newham, London. Constance and Mark’s vehicle broke down near on the M61 on Thursday January 5th and was found on the hard shoulder. Officers attended but no occupants were found in the car, and so a missing persons investigation was launched by Greater Manchester Police.
