A Scots double killer offered to plead guilty seven years before he was extradited to America to face justice, a true crime podcast has revealed. A letter sent to US prosecutors on behalf of Phillip Harkins suggested talks about resolving his first degree murder charge in 2010.
But a lawyer's letter, obtained by the award-winning A Murder Without End Podcast, has revealed that the case could have been resolved several years earlier. They concluded: “Our client submits that his extradition and conviction are remote possibilities, at the best. However he has now been in custody for eight years and wants to put matters behind him and continue with the rest of his life.
