Peter McLaren was imprisoned in 2016 and is now a shareholder in a company making top homes.

A drugs courier boss has been linked to the construction of a new multi-million luxury housing development, the Sunday Mail can reveal. Peter McLaren, 55, was jailed for six years in November 2016 after being caught in a police surveillance operation codenamed Operation Numerical targeting organised crime.

A number of houses have already been completed and sold on the two Kilcreggan complexes. Meanwhile, groundworks are under way on Portkil’s Kings Marina site in neighbouring Rosneath. During their investigation detectives found a half kilo of high purity cocaine in a car in Shandwick shopping centre in the city’s Easterhouse.

Before jailing him, trial judge Lord Woolman told McLaren: “I must, in arriving at a sentence, have regard to the misery the drugs trade causes. You took a risk in becoming involved in this enterprise – a big risk. You had an important role in the drugs distribution chain.
