Scots photographer left with broken neck after speedway bike mows him down in freak accident
A Scots speedway photographer has been left with a broken neck after a freak accident during a bike race.
The match between the home side and Poole Pirates was later abandoned with fans reportedly ushered out the stadium by police. “Things are progressing amazingly well. I am up on my own two feet and everything is beginning to heal fine. The reaction from the speedway family has been truly humbling. “The immediate actions of our medical team were truly amazing and I can't thank any of them, or staff at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, enough. I'll be in hospital another couple of days.”
The match had been streamed online by the British Speedway Network before the coverage was cut short while emergency services responded. Dozens of heartfelt messages poured in for the injured photographer from speedway fans across the UK.
